September was
begun in Montréal in Summer,1987, and completed in Toronto in Summer
1989. The piece is dedicated to my late teacher and friend, Morton Feldman (1926-1987),
and contains a musical reference to his work, for Philip Guston. September is
scored for three guitars and was commissioned by Canadian guitarist William
Beauvais through the generosity of the Canada Council.
